A WSC volunteer may be a person who is 16 or older by 1 August 2019. If you are under 16, we can not accept you for volunteering. This year, we invite you to contribute to the event as a fan. Persons who are under 18 years of age and whose application will be considered positive, will be able to volunteer, only after showing permission from parents / legal guardians. You will receive the consent form in the confirmation email. We confirm the successful handling of the application by email, in which we attach a copy of the voluntary contract. We sign a paper agreement at the festival, but since the email is received, it is binding, also if you can not be at the championship, please let us know! A voluntary contract specifies the detailed conditions of volunteering, including specific dates, privileges and obligations of the parties. The content of the contract varies depending on which team you have been admitted. The volunteer will be removed from the list and will not receive an ID if you do not show up at the event site within the prescribed period.
The working time of a volunteer during the festival is from 4 to 6 hours a day. During the days of preparations 1-4 August 2019 and dismantling 11 to 12 August 2019, the work may be different. The organizer may freely (rationally) have a volunteer’s working time. During this time, the volunteer works with his team on the preparation of the Championships, participates in training, information and integration meetings. In addition to the work time, the volunteer can participate free of charge at all program points offered at the WSC.

The volunteer is bound by the general rules prevailing in the area of the Championships (regulations). In case of violation of the rules, the same provisions apply to the participants of the Championship.
The volunteer behaves friendly, ethical and in no way can give rise to any negative assessment of his person.
A volunteer or guardian of a minor who is totally responsible for his or her actions.
Descriptions of the teams
From August 4 to 11, 2019, Katowice Spodek will become an arena of badminton for nearly 1,500 best players from around the world. World Senior Badminton Championships will be the first such event in Poland!
If you want to get to know the backstage of an international organization, sport event, gain valuable experience, and make new friends, do not hesitate – volunteer! Although the championships will take place on 4-11 August 2019, some tasks will be carried out by volunteers from 1.08.
Technical officials volunteers
Technical officials are central to controlling the game of badminton on-court and ensuring fair match play in accordance with the Laws of Badminton and the various competition regulations.
Ensuring a high standard of officiating at international competitions is a key goal of the BWF. Training and development of technical officials is an important part of maintaining consistently high standards of officiating.

Information volunteers – people who will be in direct contact
with players at airports (Pyrzowice and Kraków) and hotels (downtown Katowice). Communicative and open to people. It is important that these volunteers (especially in hotels) use English at the minimum level. medium, because their tasks will be to provide the necessary information or packages of materials to competitors. Preferred adults. They will work on: August 1 – August 4 and August 9-12
Accreditation volunteers – those who will work in the accreditation office
in Spodek. Their tasks include issuing accreditation to appropriate persons. People with an average level of English are welcome. Activities are carried out on this position on August 3 and 4.
Volunteers for training bookings – these are the persons responsible for the ongoing development of the schedule of using individual pitches in order to train the participants of the championships. In this position, volunteers are needed throughout the competition (August 3-11). Welcome communication English.
Volunteers to handle the field of play – people who are closest to sports events. Their task will be technical support during badminton games. Welcome communication English. To carry out this task, volunteers will be needed from August 3-11.
Volunteers at the information stand – it will be the main stand of the championships located in the mezzanine of Spodek. Volunteers will have contact with many participants of the event here, they will have to provide information, direct to the right places or answer questions. It is important that these people speak English well and freely. A responsible position, but there will certainly be a lot going on.
Communication volunteers – they will be responsible for directing the participants
to the right place at the beginning of the event (3-5.08) in connection with the ongoing competitive events in the close vicinity of Spodek.
Volunteers for the press office – those responsible for proper media service. They will help, for example, prepare press conferences, provide official statistics and provide necessary assistance to journalists from around the world. We welcome people with experience in this area or with journalistic (or related) education using the medium English language.
The volunteers responsible for ticketing – the goal of their activities will be the efficient entry of fans into the stands and the control of the number of participants in the event. Their task will be, among others assistance in scanning tickets, providing information, directing to appropriate places. In this post, volunteers will operate from August 4-11.
